Too Sweet 03:21
Your love is too sweet Their gonna be drilling holes in my teeth I know it's no good for me But I crave the sensation it brings Your love is too sweet Their gonna be drilling holes in my teeth I know it's no good for me But I crave the sensation it brings I'm addicted to the way that I feel When you are in my bed Release dopamine in my brain Like candy or cocaine And I'm a wreck Your love is too sweet Their gonna be drilling holes in my teeth I know it's no good for me But I crave the sensation it brings So sweet you tickle my teeth And leave me with regrets Swear to god I'm giving you up But I'm scared you're stuck inside my head

about

In 2021 and 2022 a team of amazingly skilled local artists created an immersive art experience by the title of Sugar High. I was asked at the beginning of the project to be part of the team and helped create the original concept. As my piece in the experience, I created the soundscape.

Open from April 1, 2022, through May 8, 2022, in Downtown Enid, Sugar High had many tonal shifts as guests passed through the experience and I wanted the music to compliment each unique area. So I created one main theme in five different ways that would always play in sync with each other but be distinctly different in tone. The sound moved from a clean hopeful mix when guests would first enter the futuristic experience, to a more honest imperfect mix, to an "artificial organic" mix, to a pumping repetitive techno mix, and finally to a droning soundscape of reflection. Not only was there variation in tone but also in the composition of the music itself. Using Ableton Live I was able to create numerous versions of each section of the composition and set various "paths" that the song could take. This means the song would likely never repeat exactly the same way twice for days on end, delivering a unique experience for every guest on every visit.

As for "Too Sweet." I am mainly a lyrically driven songwriter who produces electronic music on the side. Considering this I figured if I was already exploring this song in five ways it would be a shame to not explore it in a sixth and final way in my native style. You will hear the same melody and lyrics references to sugar, addiction, and instant gratification which were all key elements in the original Sugar High experience.
